The Sanctuary of the Virgin of Chilla is located in a beautiful place, surrounded by oak trees, and with a formidable panoramic view. It is a simple church, built in the 18th century, inside which the miracle of the Virgin is narrated in ceramic panels. It is located in the foothills of the Sierra de Gredos, next to the gorge of Chilla, in a place, populated by chestnut, ash and alder trees, stands this center of devotion of the people of the valley of Tiétar. From its height (660 m.) there is a beautiful panoramic view of the western part of the Tiétar valley and the Campo Arañuelo.

According to tradition, a devout shepherd, whose goat had died, in full grief, for fear of the owner of the herd, invoked the Virgin and she appeared to him and rewarded him with the resurrection of the animal. The people of Candeleda gratefully erected the hermitage in memory of such an extraordinary moment.

Candeleda is a medieval village that has a picturesque and unique old town, with narrow streets and lots of charm. It is highly recommended to visit the parish, as well as the main square, where there is a goat climbing a stone, as a symbol of the Hispanic goat, native of the Sierra de Gredos.

The Castro Vettón of El Raso is one of the most complete archaeological sites of the protohistory of the Castilian plateau and dates from the V to I BC. Raso comes from the Latin word "Rasus", which means "plains or forest clearings" and for that reason the Castro of El Raso appears open, devoid of forest and protected from the north winds to be located next to the Pico Almanzor which provides throughout the year a pleasant temperature.

In Candeleda there is an endearing corner that will attract the attention of the child in all of us. The Tin Toy Museum, a place that will make us go back to our childhood and marvel at these little treasures.

It is located in La Casa de las Flores, which is located in the heart of the town of Candeleda, one of its facades overlooks the Plaza Mayor and another on Umbria Street. Its construction dates back to 1862 as it appears in the stone of one of its entrances, later it was remodeled in 1902. The house is decorated with all kinds of objects, appliances, furniture and antique utensils. The Tin Toy Museum, Casa de las Flores, houses more than 2,000 pieces of tin toys.

Undoubtedly, a special place to go with children. They will love it.

It was the wish of Emperor Charles V to spend the last days of his life in a monastery, and the one chosen was precisely Yuste, which became known throughout Spain for this reason, as well as for its artistic wealth and its location in a privileged area of the region of La Vera.
The origin of this monastery dates back to the 15th century, when a group of neighbors of La Vera decided to build a monastery to shelter the hermits and, later, the monks of the Order of St. Jerome. This small building ended up becoming the monastic complex we know today. With the arrival of the Emperor, its outbuildings were built, a simple house-palace, without many decorative elements.

The monastery itself is divided into a church and two cloisters, excluding the king's palace-house. The church is a late Gothic temple, with a single nave and polygonal chancel. It communicates with the Gothic cloister, the austerity marks its essence. The new cloister is Renaissance and wider than the previous one. It is more ornamented, with volutes and garlands on its columns.
The Royal Monastery of Yuste is part of Spain's National Heritage and is the headquarters of the European Academy of Yuste Foundation, dedicated to promoting the spirit of union in Europe. It is worth a visit, although it is 56 km from the rural houses.

Oropesa Castle was built by the Arabs between the 12th and 12th centuries, probably over an earlier Roman construction. The first certain notes about this castle date back to the reign of Alfonso X the Wise, in the 13th century.

The whole complex is located within the wall that surrounds the old town of Oropesa. It is a medieval Christian military castle. It had 4 circular towers, of which 2 are still preserved.
